Founder's Vision

The SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering (SSN SASE) has been established by Dr. Shiv Nadar - Chairman, HCL Technologies Ltd., to bring world class education to India and make it available to meritorious students of all economic strata.  Dr. Shiv Nadar has been conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award by the Government of India in 2008.

The Program

SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering, Off Chennai, India, in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, U.S.A., offers for the first time in India: Carnegie Mellon's Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) degree program with specializations in Software Engineering and Embedded Software Engineering.

It is a one and a half year full time residential program. The first year is offered in SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering.

In this period, the students complete core courses, prerequisites, electives and project work. Experienced faculty of SSN SASE and practicing professionals conduct the courses in the first year using Carnegie Mellon courseware. The faculty of SSN SASE and Carnegie Mellon University continuously evaluate the students.

On successful completion of the one-year curriculum in India, the students get a certificate from Carnegie Mellon University. They can then proceed to Carnegie Mellon University to complete further studies in six months, and obtain the MSIT degree. The coursework at Carnegie Mellon University consists of project work under the supervision of Carnegie Mellon University and two electives.

Students desirous of proceeding to Carnegie Mellon University should obtain a valid US visa.

Scholarship and placement

SSN presents a great opportunity for all Indian intellectual minds to obtain world class education from the pioneers, Carnegie Mellon University, U.S.A. And one does not need to spend a fortune for this. The SSN Educational and Charitable Trust provides scholarship to all selected candidates covering part of the Carnegie Mellon's tution fees.

Our alumni are placed well in companies like Microsoft, IBM, Infosys, Satyam, Polaris, HCL, Wipro etc.

The typical salary of our alumni is about USD90,000/- p.a., the maximum being USD110,000/- p.a.

Location

The SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering is ideally located on a sprawling 250 acre campus on the Old Mahabalipuram Road - known as ‘IT Highway' of Chennai.

The campus comprises aesthetically designed buildings that are networked by optic fibre links. The entire campus is wi-fi enabled. The Institution has established a range of infrastructure for learning, such as state-of-the-art computer centres, seminar halls and well equipped libraries. Dedicated campus-wide Internet facility provides the opportunity to every student to be in touch with the latest in the Information Age. Experienced faculties play an integral role in the realization of the Institution’s quest for excellence. The Institution encourages its students in the path of academic excellence, with adequate emphasis on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
