SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering in association with Carnegie Mellon University offers Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) graduate program. It is uniquely designed to provide professionals with this solid foundation. MSIT is a one and a half year full time residential program. The first year is offered at SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering in Chennai. Experienced faculty of the SSNSASE and practicing professionals conduct the courses in the first year using Carnegie Mellon courseware. On successful completion of the one-year curriculum in India, the students get a certificate from Carnegie Mellon University. They can then proceed to Carnegie Mellon University to complete further studies in six months and obtain the degree.

Implementation of “Learning By Doing” Principle

We have initiated practicum based curriculum to implement the notion of Learning by Doing in which courses provide the supporting concepts required to complete real world project, which runs throughout the program. The practicum provides a common thread giving motivation to the concepts introduced in various courses and develops increasing understanding of discipline of software engineering.

Continuous Evaluation

Criteria for Student evaluation have been established by academic understanding with Carnegie Mellon. For each course, learning objectives are established; these objectives are mapped to the assignments, case studies and practicum deliverables. Evaluation of students will be done on the basis of the assignment quality and verifying required objectives having been satisfied and student achieving required level of skills. Students are evaluated continuously on the basis of the assignments to be submitted on various subjects from time to time.

Structure of the Program

One-year program in SSN is divided into four modules. The courses are distributed over four modules following equivalent MSIT programs of Carnegie Mellon

What you need to have?

A graduate or a postgraduate degree in engineering with a minimum aggregate score of 70%. Those in the final semester can also apply. Those with project experience and/or software industry experience will have an advantage.
